A while back I wrote about that the Alexa Prize, a university contest where participating teams are creating socialbots focused on progressing personal computer to human interaction. We are currently in year two, currently heading into the last stretch for 2018 and that I thought I would give everybody an update.
Teams are thinking big about to make strides in areas including conversation planning, natural language understanding and generation, context modeling, common sense reasoning, and knowledge acquisition.
To be a part of the dialog, just say”Alexa let's talk” on almost any Alexa-enabled device and start your Alexa Prize journey. So far, customers have logged thousands of hours of dialog with the eight different socialbots offered.
In mid-August the two teams with the greatest customer ratings will advance to the finals round. Amazon will selects at least the team based on their socialbot's relevance, coherence, interestingness, speed, and merit. While a mix of innovation, passion, and creativity fuels teams, customer engagement is crucial for them to achieve their goals. Your interactions and opinions will be critical to assisting teams continue to improve their socialbots into the finals round.
To end a conversation, just say”Stop.” You will be prompted to supply opinions and a verbal rating. It is simple to try multiple socialbots by simply stating”Alexa, let's talk” again.
