As part of our focus and dedication to enhancing the Google Play Store experience for our customers, we are introducing new layout specifications for your program icons.

  • New icons will display properly in Google Play.
  • May 1st Any fresh icons uploaded in Play Console must be confirmed as meeting the new specification.

    1. Update your own icon to the brand new specification.
      • Original icons will continue to display properly in Google Play.
      • Notice this does not impact your APK launcher icons for Android.
      • By June 24, we require you to:

        • Original icons will continue to exhibit properly in Google Play.
        • Early April You can start uploading your icons in Play Console and confirm they match with the new specification.
          The corner radius will be 20 percent of the size, to ensure consistency.
      • There will be no changes to Google Play on other kind factors (TV, Wear, Car ).
      • We’ll be keeping you up-to-date with these changes in the coming months – watch out for updates. Meanwhile, have a look at our new icon layout specifications.

        • Initial icons will be automatically converted to”legacy mode” icons.

    We strongly recommend that you update your icons and affirm they match the new specification when possible to ensure that you provide the highest quality experience for users.
    As of early April, you’ll have the ability affirm you’re compliant with all the new specification and to upload new icons to the Google Play Console. Original icons are still accepted from the Google Play Store during this time. As of May 1st, developers will no longer have the ability to upload icons in the Play Console that do not match the new specifications, although existing icons in the Google Play Store through this period can stay unchanged.

  • These updates can help us provide a consumer experience and all provide a consistent look and feel for Google and unified Play, enabling us to showcase your apps and games.
