In towns, at times the projects which make the most favorable impact are not flashy plazas, but initiatives that respond to demands that are actual. A new trophy, which just announced its winner, honors such endeavors.

Back in Africa, a child crossing the road to get to college is as likely to be hit by a vehicle than a kid anywhere else on the planet. They have to traverse the longest distances from their home by foot for their classroom, and due to the lack of infrastructure like sidewalks dodge in and out of the avenues of automobiles and trucks. Even though the region is home to only 2% of earth ’s vehicles, it balances for 16 percent of international traffic deaths–and children are severely affected.
