Talking about cloud providers, it s worth noting that Google is taking a very different strategy to open source than especially, and some of its rivals AWS. That’s something which isn’t s leadership in Google Cloud. “The issue that is significant is that we feel that are the ones that enable instead of destroy ecosystems. We really basically think that he told me. “Any platform that wins in the end is always about fostering instead of shutting down an ecosystem. We think they work hard to construct technology and empower developers to utilize it When you look at companies. ”
In terms of the future of Google Cloud, Kurian didn wish to look at his crystal ball. Rather, he argued that so long as the firm focuses on doing what its clients want — beginning with hiring more employees to help those clients and making it easier to conduct business with Google — those clients will purchase a lot more of the cloud technologies from Google.
I inquired Kurian if he considers his predecessors made a mistake rather than doing all of this already. Always the diplomat, Kurian denied that (obviously ). “No, I think it s only the normal evolution of every company. Growing up, knowing their business, seeing an opportunity he explained. “When I look at it t it a fantastic position? Whenever you have customers saying ‘please hire more people to help me’ rather please move away from me? ’ ”
Because they want to utilize the company ’ s engineering enterprises want Google to figure out the business, Kurian argues. “And therefore we’re attempting to do that. ”
The overarching theme of these discussions was similar, he explained during an interview s Cloud conference: “Love the tech — amazed at it. [They] believe it’s the best of the best. But they want people that can help them embrace it and developments to the way they do business with us. ”
Kurian isn’t the kind of CEO that will attack his competitors but he did come close to it in this context: “so as to keep up the company behind the technology, they need a monetization vehicle. If the cloud provider takes that away and attacks them, then they’re not viable and the community that is open minded deteriorates. ”
It’s no secret that Google is definitely focusing on bringing more ventures onto its stage. That’s not going to say Google Cloud doesn’t care about startups. “When we state we’re it doesn’t mean we’re quitting to focus on the small and medium businesses — about the startups as well as the digital natives,” Kurian said. “Historically they concentrate on natives. […] The perception is not correct. Along with the announcement we’re going to concentrate on enterprises is not true. ”
So ’s business at Google Cloud’s first order now. Kurian, who arrived at Google Cloud following 22 years at Oracle, said that contracts and plans are rolling out to simplify pricing. Most importantly, though, Google will go on a spree. “A variety of clients told us ‘we need more individuals to assist us. ’ So that’s what we’ll do,” Kurian said.
No matter what he believes about Diane Greene’s tenure at Google Cloud, though, Kurian undoubtedly has the opportunity to reshape the organization now. Though he contended it ’ s all about listening to customers and giving them what they desire, when I asked him about how his particular philosophy differs from his predecessor. And what they need is superior collaboration tools, more solutions, in addition to for example, but also more aid.
