This week the US Patent & Trademark Office released a patent application from Apple that relates to new protective coatings being added to Apple apparatus later on that will protect against damage to home structures, transparent members associated with optical component windows and screens, along with other device structures.
The protective coatings may include a binder material like polymer (sometimes known as a matrix or silicone matrix) and might include particles embedded inside the binder. The particles could have high hardness to improve the durability of these coatings that are protective.
