The coatings might include a binder material such as polymer (sometimes referred to as a matrix or silicone matrix) and might comprise particles embedded within the binder. The particles could have high hardness to improve the durability of these protective coatings.

This week the US Patent & Trademark Office released a patent application from Apple that relates to brand new protective coatings being inserted to Apple devices in the future which will prevent damage to home structures, transparent members connected with optical component windows and displays, along with other apparatus structures.
