There should be a bundle price.
What I’d do if I were Apple is get in touch with the best indie game makers for iOS and register them up to make new games, only to get a new subscription service. Apple will pay news publishers by participation — the more time readers spend reading a publication’s stories, the further that book will get paid. No cash for clickbait headlines — Apple is looking for nourishing news and comment pieces. I would pay the manner — the longer people spend playing, the more the game manufacturer gets paid to game makers. No in-app purchases — that is it and you pay a monthly fee, you get all of it. You spend some time playing with a match, the sport ’s maker gets paid.
Forget the big companies like Epic and EA — they won ’ t wander away from casino-style in-app buy schemes that are pay-to-win and that they re not going to really go for stage exclusivity. Go for the stores that specialize in mobile games. They like making games exclusive for iOS, also I’ll bet they’d jump at the chance for recurring earnings that doesn’t come from shitty in-app-purchase game mechanics.
Everybody and their brother knows that s Apple is going to make statements about news and movie content subscriptions. That we know. What we don’t understand is how much they re going to cost, and whether there will be a mix bundle price.
If Apple’s going to spend billions on exclusive TV and film content, why not invest money on matches ? Games are suited to this iPhone, and the iPhone is Apple’s platform and most powerful. And if they can sell — music, news, TV, movies, games — as one bundle to the entire thing, it ’ ll feel just like getting these games.
